Auto Transport to North Charleston, South Carolina
Originally a part of greater Charleston, North Charleston was officially incorporated in 1972, and today is home to over 104,000 residents, which makes it the third-largest city in the entire state of South Carolina.
The city began primarily as a plantation town, with several major estates situated in the areas north of the city. What became North Charleston started really after the end of the American Civil War, when phosphate fertilizer plants came to the area and caused the first major industrial boom in the area. The plantations were divided up into smaller farms, of which some remain today, and the city grew slowly but surely.

North Charleston, like Charleston, sits on the east coast of the United States, and while its size makes it a more popular auto transport destination, it sits pretty low in the ranks of most popular. This is a problem, because the only major route into North Charleston is Interstate 26, which runs southeast from Columbia to merge with Highway 17 in Charleston, to the south.
I-26 has a bit of help in the sense that it also intersects Interstate 95, one of the most heavily-traveled interstates in the country, but even then it’ll still be more expensive to move a vehicle into Charleston or North Charleston just because of how isolated it is when compared to other major metro areas.
Prices are mitigated a bit by its connection to the interstate highway system, which helps keep auto transport more affordable for a lot of people, and you can even talk to a representative about possibly moving your pickup or delivery location to somewhere closer to Interstate 95, then taking 26 back to town.
Unlike cities in the northern U.S., North Charleston has a relatively mild climate that sees little extremes in terms of seasonal variations. Summers are warm, winters are warm, fall and spring are warm. Average highs during the winter months sit in the upper 50’s and low 60’s, which really helps with auto transportation services.
Charleston may not be the most popular area to ship to or from, but winter shipping may actually help prices into and out of North Charleston simply because no one wants to run on snow-covered routes, so they stay to southern routes and take what they can find.
