Auto Transport Tips: Don’t Misrepresent Your Vehicle
People are always looking for the lowest price for anything they buy, whether it’s a stereo or a TV or auto transportation, and you’d be surprised at the lengths that some people go to simply to try and get a cheaper quote to ship their car.
What most people don’t understand is that at the end of the day, it’s going to cost what it’s going to cost to get your vehicle moved from one location to another in the U.S. and misrepresenting your vehicle is just going to end up costing you more money and time in the long run, and it’s going to really make some people mad.
Most people that misrepresent their vehicle are doing so to hide the vehicle’s true size. This is usually done to avoid paying extra for vehicles that are lifted or heavier than their stock counterparts, but the thing is that if your vehicle can’t fit on a standard shipping carrier it will need to be shipped via flatbed, which costs more.
People see that it costs more, not that vehicle can’t fit on a vehicle transport carrier, so they basically lie to their transportation representative and then when a standard carrier shows up to pick up the vehicle and finds out they can’t load it, well…you can see how this is frustrating for transportation companies. This type of behavior is called “misrepresentation,” and it’s the easiest way to have your transport company cancel your order – especially if you’re going to be rude about it.
When you call anyone for an auto transport quote or quotes, you should always tell them exactly what you are shipping and any modifications that it may have had done to it. This is vital because it is the only way you will get accurate quotes to transport your vehicle. If your vehicle is too large to fit on a standard carrier, it’s too large, end of story. No amount of telling anyone that it’s not as big is going to change the fact that it won’t fit onto a standard carrier. You can’t get a square peg through a triangular hole, after all.
