What to Know About the Fall Shipping Season
Summer is just about over, folks, which means we’re rolling along into fall and starting to see the auto transport industry really slow down. Less people are shipping vehicles, less people are moving, and on the whole there are fewer jobs to go around yet still a lot of carriers on the road.
This usually means lower auto transport prices for most customers shipping in the fall, and while there’s still almost a month of summer left technically it doesn’t really feel that way in most parts of the country.
Many parts of the Midwest are starting to experience more extreme weather, and now more than ever is the time that extreme weather and Mother Nature are going to have it out for people on the roads.
In the Midwest, Tornado season is fast approaching; as the cooler weather starts to come, it’s going to clash with the warmer weather fronts, which in turn is going to cause the ever-familiar rash of tornadoes in the Midwestern U.S.
Not only that but we’re also heading straight for hurricane season, and people transporting to or from the Gulf Coast should watch the weather reports for the latest on any tropical storms or hurricanes threatening the area.
You can bet carriers will be doing the same thing, and you should understand that when the weather gets rough the carriers don’t go there. If there’s tornadoes warnings across Kansas and Nebraska, most carriers will avoid those areas during the fall.
Same with hurricanes and the Gulf Coast. So keep this in mind when transporting your vehicle, as tornado and hurricane warnings (and landfalls) will most likely cause price hikes for your next car transport.
